In the fall of 2020 the Detroit Metro Youth Symphony teamed up with the Collective Conservatory to create brand new programming that would continue the tradition of high quality classical training, empower the students voices and fit the current climate of online learning. Students embarked on a journey of improvisation, collaboration and interpretation. Working with Jorge Soto (Longy) students from each group focused on one piece of standard classical repertoire. These pieces were dissected and analyzed for concepts and content that could be transferred to the composition portion of the project. These concepts were then used as starting material for students to explore and ultimately led to brand new student created musical content. This content was then recorded, by the students, and submitted to the Collective Conservatory. These recordings were then arranged and produced by Collective Conservatory's Julian Wild.

These tracks feature the voice of the next generation inspired by the music of previous generations. Please enjoy!
